Padua Between Galileo, the Saint and Knowledge

Padua has influenced the world through science, faith and culture. During this tour, you will follow the legacy of two extraordinary figures: Galileo Galilei and Saint Anthony. We will start from the University of Padua, one of the oldest universities in Europe, where Galileo taught for 18 years. Visiting Palazzo Bo, we will step back into 17th-century Padua and understand why this city became a centre of knowledge and freedom of thought known throughout Europe.

Walking through the historic squares, still vibrant today, we will also see the area where Galileo is believed to have lived, offering insight into the cultural and urban life of his time.

The Saint and the Spiritual Heart of Padua

Padua is deeply connected to Saint Anthony, who lived here only two years but left a lasting legacy through his charity and devotion. After his death in 1231, the Basilica of Saint Anthony was built and remains today one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Christianity.

During the tour, we will visit both the exterior and interior of the Basilica, exploring its history, architecture and spiritual significance.

Squares, Symbols and Everyday Life

The tour continues through Padua’s historic squares, still the social heart of the city. We will also stop at Caffè Pedrocchi, the historic café that became a symbol of intellectual and university life for centuries. The experience ends in Prato della Valle, one of the largest squares in Europe — a perfect place where history, architecture and daily life meet.
