This private Venice walking tour is designed for travellers who want to discover the real Venice beyond the crowded tourist paths, combining the city’s highlights with quieter hidden corners.
During this walk through Venice, I will guide you through some of the city’s most famous landmarks while also showing you quieter streets, hidden courtyards and local corners that most visitors never notice. Walking together means discovering not only the iconic monuments of Venice, but also understanding how the city truly lives today.
I am a licensed local guide in Venice and I have been guiding visitors through the city for many years. I designed this itinerary to offer a balanced introduction to Venice — combining the main highlights with lesser-known places that reveal the authentic character of the city.
This itinerary was originally designed and developed by me, Valentina Battocchio, and I have been guiding travellers through this experience since 2017.
Because this is a private Venice walking tour, the experience can easily be adapted depending on your interests, pace and curiosity about the city.
Couples visiting Venice often enjoy adding a special romantic experience to their stay, such as the Romantic Venice Photoshoot Tour, a private experience that combines a guided walk through the city with a professional photoshoot in some of Venice’s most beautiful locations.
This experience is offered as a private Venice walking tour, which means the itinerary can be adapted depending on your interests, pace and curiosity about the city.
While the route usually includes highlights such as Rialto Bridge and St Mark’s Square, I can easily adjust the experience to focus more on hidden corners, local life or Venetian history.
The tour starts in beautiful Campo San Polo, one of my favorite places in Venice. Even today, this large historic square is where Venetians meet friends, children play and locals live their daily life. I love starting here because it shows visitors the real atmosphere of Venice from the very first moment.
From Campo San Polo, I will lead you into a quiet residential area, away from the main tourist crowds. Walking through peaceful calli and hidden courtyards, I will share stories about everyday Venetian life, local traditions and what it really means to live in a city built on water.
The walk continues toward the historic Rialto Market area, the commercial heart of Venice for more than 1,000 years. Here I will explain how trade shaped Venice and helped it become one of the most powerful cities in the world. During the tour, we will also see one of the earliest churches built in Venice.
You will then cross the iconic Rialto Bridge, one of the most famous symbols of Venice. With me, you will discover hidden details and stories while enjoying one of the most beautiful views over the Grand Canal.
Families travelling with children may also enjoy the Venice Family Tour, a kid-friendly experience designed to discover the city through stories, small discoveries and engaging moments for younger travellers.
Before reaching St Mark’s, I will take you through lesser-known streets and hidden corners, showing you a more intimate and authentic side of Venice that most visitors never see.
The tour ends in the stunning St Mark’s Square, where I will explain how Venice became one of the greatest maritime republics in history and why this square is still the symbolic heart of the city.
This private Venice walking tour with local guide is perfect for travellers who want to see the main attractions while also discovering the authentic side of the city.
